notterman2001_set1

All data has been taken from the article: Notterman D. A., Alon U. ,  Sierk A. J., and  Levine A. J.  "Transcriptional Gene Expression Profiles of Colorectal Adenoma, Adenocarcinoma, and Normal Tissue Examined by Oligonucleotide Arrays", Cancer Res. 61, 3124–3130 (2001) [ MEDLINE abstract; Cancer Research full text ].

Data contain the measured expression levels for 7400 human cDNAs and ESTs (Human 6500 GeneChip Set, Affymetrix) in colon adenocarcinomas from several patients. The expression of these RNAs was also measured in normal colon tissues. Totally, the table contains expression measurements for 18 tumorous and 18 normal counterpart colon tissues. These data are combined in appropriate groups: "Tumor" and "Normal".

Original data has been taken from the site Microarray Databases (November 2002 г.), Notterman Carcinoma Data page. Expression data are taken from the CarcinomaNormalDatasetCancerResearch.txt, file, displayed on this page. The order and numeration correspond to data from the first raw of this file.

The SELTAG software was used for analysis of "notterman2001_set1" data. The results are represented in the notterman2001_set1.doc file. It has allowed to identify genes that are overexpressed in tumorous tissues (when compared to normal ones) and vice versa. The obtained results were compared to that in the article Notterman et al (2001). Using hierarchical clustering and principal components approaches, two clusters of genes were obtained. One cluster contains the genes that are preferably expressed in tumorous tissues, and another one - in normal tissues.
